Phuket Villa Rentals
Welcome to Phuket
The biggest of Thailand's islands, Phuket lies to the west coast of southern Thailand, surrounded by the Andaman Sea. It is roughly 550 miles from Bangkok. Phuket literally means hill or mountain. And many of its peaks are covered in think jungle undergrowth. Lower-lying areas are made up of paddy fields and rubber plantations.
Phuket's world-renowned white sandy beaches can be found on the west coast of the island. And you'll see breath-taking crystal clear emerald waters and coral reefs as far as the horizon. Tourism has dominated the island's economy for the past two decades. Each year, over three million visitors arrive to enjoy Phuket's natural splendor.
Getting to Phuket is straightforward. Most visitors arrive viaPhuket International Airport (HKT).
And the island is served by a number of flights from Europe and Asia. Many visitors fly via Bangkok. There are over ten domestic flights to Phuket daily. Budget airlines such as Nok Air, Air Asia, Bangkok Airways and Orient Thai (One2Go) mean that ticket prices are low. The national carrier Thai Airways is more expensive but provides a higher level of service.
Flights from Bangkok take 1 hour and 20 minutes. You may need to book early, especially during the high season from November to April. Phuket International Airport is about 45 minutes drive from Phuket City.
Phuket is about 867km (539 miles) from Bangkok by road, which takesabout 10-12 hours. There are many car rental companies in Bangkok, including international hire firms such as Avis and Budget, as well as local companies. Driving in Thailand is enjoyable and roads are generally in good condition. But beware, driving standards are still quite poor.Roads provide easy access to all beaches, shopping facilities and to the center of Phuket Town. Your safest means of transport is a self-drive air-conditioned vehicle, something like a car or jeep. But you can also hire a motorbike to explore the sights and sounds of the island but do be careful. If you prefer, a private car and driver can be arranged through your villa management and staff. Then you can sit back and enjoy the ride.
Entertainment, Dining And Spas
Most Phuket beach resorts have their own restaurants situated close by. There is a huge choice of places to eat and drink. Fresh seafood is a popular choice. And tropical fruits are a specialty of
the island. Whichever takes your fancy you will find more than enough for all tastes. International and Western dishes as well as spicy Thai dishes are ready available. But we do suggest you to have
a look through the Dining Guide Where to Eat in Phuket as another source of information for choosing your evening meal. Local markets as well as most restaurants offer great value for money with traditional Thai food and specialties from all regions.

Sights and Scenes. And Sport
The beaches of Phuket remain one of the most popular tropical holiday destinations in the world.
The busiest areastend to be Patong, Kata and Karon. And nearly all of the beaches along the island's west coasts are frequented by locals and tourists. However the northern beaches along those west coasts do remainmuch quieter and untouched, if you're searching for a bit more peace and quiet.
In such an idyllic setting the temptation is to lay peacefully on the beach, soak up that tropical un
and boost your tan. But if you wish for somethinga little more energeticthere are plenty of opportunities for water sports, such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, diving and snorkeling. The coastal waters are exciting places to explore and they are especially rich in shoals of brightly colored fish and exotic corals. Among Phuket's natural highlights are two stunning waterfalls, Hin Lat and Na Muang.
Island hopping is the bigtourist attraction. Boats can easily be hired for trips to Phang Nga Bay to discover the peculiar mountain limestone karsts which are scattered all over the bay.
Krabi province and The Phi Phi Islands are stunning bays with colorful coral formations and marine life. They also provide excellent conditions for diving and snorkeling.
You can make a more strenuous exertion to The National Park of the Similan Islands. 140 square kilometers in total, 14 of which arein the shape of an archipelago consisting of nine islands. There is an enormous diversity of fish and corals. And the visibility is probably the best you will see anywhere in Thailand. You will also find plenty of colorful fish and if you're really lucky you may even see a whale shark.
Elephant riding is another exciting, new experience. The elephants are trained and you can tip the helpers by giving the money to the elephant that will hand it to the helpers with its trunk.
If you can squeeze it into your schedule try the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project by the Bang Pae waterfall. The visitor centre is staffed by Western volunteers and English speaking Thai staff. You are encouraged to support the project by buying a souvenir, sponsoring a gibbon or giving a small donation, as the talks tend to be free of charge.
Phuket can be visited all year round. And this is due to its tropical climate. The 'dry' season is from November right through until May. But temperatures hover around 30 degrees all year round. The 'green' season is from May to October when temperatures dip around the 25 to 30 degree mark.
Phuket is widely recognised as the one of the world's top holiday locations. And millions of tourists and travelers visit the island every year from all over the world.
Its coastline, hospitality and spectacular white sandy beaches offer one of the best holiday experiences. Patong is the shopping and nightlife hub and you'll be spoilt for choice for estaurants
and bars. Most of which are set back away from the beach along small side streets.
Kamala and Kata beach are also hugely popular and both offer full amenities. If you're feeling adventurous there's plenty to keep you occupied. Offshore island tours, scuba diving, snorkeling,
elephant riding and even a strenuous climb to the Big Buddha shrine. And of course there's the array of world-class golf courses to choose from.
If you visit to Phuket's old town it will give you a taste of Phuket and Thailand's past and traditional
lifestyle. Whilst resorts on the north and south of the island offer much more seclusion and luxury with 5-star facilities.
In short, Phuket will provide you with the holiday of a lifetime wherever you choose to stay.
